Urbanism : Why Water, Not Space?

Dernière mise à jour : 2 sept. 2023

As we ponder the expansion of human habitats, one might wonder, why focus on developing on water when we're also exploring outer space?

The concept of colonizing other planets is undeniably intriguing, offering a vast realm of possibilities. However, this grand endeavor demands monumental resources and technologies that are currently far beyond the reach of the majority and likely won't be attainable for several generations to come.

Furthermore, human societies heavily rely on Earth's natural resources—environmental assets we can't simply transport to other planets. From my perspective, space exploration seems reserved for billionaires and scientists.

So, what are more realistic and practical solutions?

Instead of depleting Earth's resources or contemplating mass human migration to another planet, let's consider intermediate solutions.

After fully exploring and exploiting our terrestrial landscapes, the next frontier lies beneath the sea.

Ethical and Functional Challenges

It's crucial to acknowledge that developing human societies and urban environments within aquatic settings will inevitably have adverse effects on the natural environment—our oceans, seas, rivers, and more.

This new urban system must adhere to a reasonable and sustainable mode of development. Achieving this project's goals requires rigorous political oversight, immediate coordinated actions on a global scale, and significant financial investments.

Join us on this exciting journey to explore the potential of water-based urbanization while addressing the ethical and functional challenges it presents. Together, we can chart a course towards a sustainable and balanced future.
